Helping others is really rewarding

I’ve always known that “what goes around, comes around”, and it’s true.

I met someone this week and heard her say how worried she was about  her child’s breathing issues.  It sounded like my daughter, all over again!  Her “kidlet” would wheeze at night and wake up several times coughing and short of breath.  Scary stuff for a parent!

Thankfully I was able to help her by sharing with her what we did for my daughter years ago.  I hope she finds it helpful and her kidlet starts feeling better and they both start sleeping better too!

It really felt good to be able to help.

It’s hard raising parents

You just can’t leave ‘em alone for a minute!  My parents are both 71 years old (mom will be next month).  You would think by now they would have a little common sense!

My mother (all 5′0″ of her), decided the other day that there was an ugly dandilion in the front lawn.  She said the diameter was about 2″ or so.  So, in her infinite wisdom, she decided to bend over, grab it with both hands and try to yank it out of the ground!  She pulled and pulled, but nothing…dandilion still in the ground.  Instead of accepting defeat (or getting a clipper) she decided to give it another try.  Lo and behold it came out of the ground and she ended up ON the ground.  She says she landed on her butt in the grass, but we think she landed on the sidewalk.

Wait…it gets better!

She rolls herself onto her knees and crawls about 2-3 feet towards the front of the house when she realizes that she still can’t get up off the ground.

What does she do?

She starts yelling my dad’s name (who happens to be in the house and about as deaf as the door itself).  Obviously, he doesn’t hear her.

Now what to do?

She picks up some small rocks (pebbles) that are within reach and starts throwing them at the front door.

Does my dad hear it?  NO WAY!  He thinks his oxygen concentrator is just making “funny noises”.

Does he notice that she’s been outside for a long time?  NO…

She’s out there for quite a while when finally the neighbor down the street hears her yelling and comes over to help her up and back into the house.

I finally found out about this 3 days later (by accident) when she is still having trouble getting around.  HELLO ????

We shouldn’t have had to tell her this…but NO MORE WEED PULLING! We also shouldn’t have to tell my dad this…but, if she’s outside more than 10 minutes GO CHECK ON HER!

DUH!  What’s the matter with parents these days???

Sympathy Pains

mom-aunt-mari1My sister finally got to go back to work this week! After having God knows how many weeks off for the “pain in the neck” she has been suffering through.  Hopefully we can get her on the same supplements I am on, I know they really help me, so I am stoked about getting her up and running around again. Other than that she isn’t up to much now that she is back from the Inauguration Party she went to in D.C.

Hmm… I have a little bit of a stiff neck today, so I am thinking sympathy pains, but also I have a little bit of a back ache as well as being tired, damn dogs. Gio decided to try and get sick on the carpet I just cleaned… thank God I got him outside before he did that.

Ben’s got a backache from the weeding and yard work. He doesn’t know the concept of doing things slowly, he is hard headed…

Hope is good, for the exception of having a massive ear itch that she can’t get rid of… She has been stabbing her brain with a q-tip all day but no progress has been made as of yet.

Don’t know how the parents are today, Dad hasn’t made his “daily phone call” to me yet. The silence is bliss. Alright… no more to report today. Talk at you later Blog.

Have a little Trace….yeah for no apparent reason. Thought that this was an amazing video.
